How to reach Paleochora (Palaiochora), Crete

By Car

Paleochora (Palaiochora) is situated 75 km south of the city of Chania. Once you arrive on the island, you can reach Paleochora by bus, taxi or your own rental car.

By Airplane

From Chania Airport:
After leaving the airport, follow the main road to the left and turn right to Chania and follow the signs for Souda and National Road E65-90 going west to Paleochora, via Vokolies village.

Alternatively, you can take the bus from Chania Airport to the Intercity bus station (KTEL) in Chania and take a bus to Paleochora from there.

By Bus

From Chania to Paleochora by bus:
There are four daily buses from Chania to Paleochora. The bus trip takes approximately two hours.

From Rethymno to Paleochora by bus via Chania:
There are several daily buses from Rethymno to Chania. The bus trip takes approximately one hour. Once you reach Chania bus station you will have to take the bus to Paleochora.

From Heraklion to Paleochora by bus via Chania:
There are several daily buses from Heraklion to Chania. The itinerary includes a stop at Rethymno and takes approximately 3 hours. At Chania you will change buses to Paleochora, so the whole trip will take 5 hours if you are lucky and catch a bus leaving for Paleochora at once. If you decide to rent a car, the trip takes about 3,5 hours.

By Boat

From Pireaus Port (Athens) to the port of Souda (Chania) and then to Paleochora by bus, taxi or car rental.

You can also reach Paleochora by boat from the east coast villages of Sougia and Sfakia.
